2016 Joan Simó Les Eres Carignan, Grenache 0.75 Ltr. Tinto
picture of

It is a magical wine that pays homage the historic vineyards, using the historic Priorat varieties; structured but subtle, balanced, complex and elegant with full fruit suggestive of Grenache, warm yet very cool, where one is transported to the wild landscape and woods of Priorat.

climate

Generally, the climate is more extreme than most continental areas although there are marked contrasts between valleys and highlands. Thus, there are cold northern winds, but these are buffered by the Montsant massif, and the warm Mistral blows in from the east.

soil

The Priorat area is of volcanic origin, which gives its soils unique features. The soil is acid, poor in organic matter but rich in slate.

vinification

This is a special selection from Els Carners, a small vineyard of 100-year old Grenache from the highest point in the parish of Bellmunt. This is a very special area where the Grenache is very fruity, elegant and complex, nuanced and balanced, resulting in a wine of great character. This Grenache is complemented with grapes from small vineyard of 100-year old Carignan that has survived the test of time on our lands at La Garranxa. It is a fresh carignan that blends perfectly with the Grenache.
