picture of

Deep, dark, ruby red color. Nose of black fruit, jam, licorice, spices, roasted notes and a hint of menthol. Mouth-filling but very balanced whole. Wonderful concentration supported by fine tannins. In the long and refined final, a hint of balsamic comes up.

This 'Crianza' style is widely applicable in the kitchen. It can be enjoyed very young, but can also easily mature for a few years. Grilled meat, stews, charcuterie dishes, etc.

climate

The climate in Toro is fairly extreme. Long, warm and dry summers. The winters can be very cold and in between teh seasons there is very limited rainfall. Temperature differences can also be large at night. Together with the poor soils, they determine the unique character of Toro.

soil

Vineyard Salgadero. Planted in 1930. Sandy soils poor in organic matter and a layer of clay deep in the soil. Only older plants that have to go deep into the ground with their roots will produce the best grapes. Due to the harsh conditions and poor soils, phylloxera didn't get a chance here.

vinification

100% Tinta de Toro (Tempranillo). Low temperature fermentation to emphasize its elegant character. Long maceration with regular pigeage. After 30 days of maturing follows a 12 months in French and American oak.
